What Winning the Don Haig Award has meant to me…
It was a tremendous honour to receive the Don Haig award.
I never had the chance to meet Don Haig in person, but everyone I spoke to who knew him and had worked with him described his unwavering commitment to encouraging and supporting young talent.
I heard stories of a maverick producer who was driven and adept in his ability to get things done.
Ultimately, the award itself has helped me continue to work on my current documentary project that has been years in the making.
I feel so fortunate that I was selected in order to continue the process of working on my film. In a business that can be so challenging for young filmmakers, winning this award was a great encouragement and served as inspiration to continue to make my own films and strive to get things done.
